Amazing Images From Inside The Paris Catacombs

The Paris Catacombs were opened in the late 1700′s as a solution to overcrowding in the Parisian cemeteries. Originally the catacombs were based on a network of old mines, but during the 1800′s these were extended until there were 180 miles of tunnels running beneath the city streets.

Today there are more than 6 million people buried in the catacombs, many of these bones are arranged in a “romantico-macabre” decoration you can see below.
